Abiquo provides a thin un-intruisive management layer across the top of the existing virtualised environment. That virtualised environment may consist of multiple hypervisors and storage arrays and a complex network environment. Abiquo allows organisations to maximise the investment in any existing infrastructure and ensures that their is choice in any future investments so that vendor lock in can be avoided.

Abiquo manages this complex infrastructure across multiple datacenters all from the same, simple administrative interface. The service provider remains in complete control of how that infrastructure will be used and presented to customers in a secure multi-tennant environment. The Abiquo solution provides an abstraction layer for those end customers so that they can use the infrastructure quickly and simply, without the need to understand (or know about) the underlying technology stack that supports the service.

Abiquo provides a management layer for the existing infrastructure

The Abiquo solutions supports six major hypervisors and any storage technology supported by the underlying virtualisation, including Fibre Channel, NFS, GFS and iSCSi. In addition Abiquo can manage iSCSi based storage platforms and enable customers to create their own external storage volumes without intervention from an administrator.
