Differentiate the service (multiple levels of service)

With a vast array of hardware and software technology in the world today it is clear that one size most definitely does not fit all. Today’s service provider is likely to have a mix of customers. Large and small, simple and complex.

To ensure that they can expand market share and increase revenue the solutions offered by todays service provider are likely to evolve into multiple tiers. So that different solutions, based on different performance or SLA’s can be offered to different types of customer at different prices points. Most importantly service providers need to differentiate themselves from their competitors and add value on top of all of the services that they provide.

Some customers will be very focused on cost where as others may be focused on performance. Abiquo allows the service provider to easily make this kind of differentiation and control which customers use which parts of the infrastructure. The service provider is free to create multiple service levels based on compute technology and they features provided by the hypervisor technology. For example a cheaper offering may be created using commodity hardware and a Linux KVM hypervisor versus a higher priced service based on higher end hardware and a VMWare hypervisor and the additional features that might bring.

In some cases the customer may still want to take advantage of the new service but still requires dedicated hardware. Or the service provider might want to make their traditional hosting business more efficient by reducing their administration costs. In these cases Abiquo allows for compute resources to be reserved for a single tenant, providing further control over the infrastructure and how is is used.
